Who Should Take This Exam?
The PMI-SP is designed for experienced professionals seeking advanced validation. 2+ years of hands-on experience recommended.
Prerequisites: PMI offers three eligibility routes and does not mandate an accredited training provider: contact hours in project scheduling education may come from a range of providers, and PMI states that it accepts hours spent in training for Microsoft Project and for other scheduling tools. The routes are a secondary diploma with project scheduling experience and 40 contact hours; a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent with 24 months of experience and 30 contact hours; or a degree from a GAC-accredited programme with 12 months of experience and 30 contact hours. PMI’s own sources differ on two details: its certification page and its downloadable handbook give different experience requirements for the secondary-diploma route, and the handbook’s eligibility table and the note beneath it give different contact-hour figures for the GAC route.
