Who Should Take This Exam?
The PMI-RMP is designed for experienced professionals seeking advanced validation. 2+ years of hands-on experience recommended.
Prerequisites: PMI offers three eligibility routes and does not mandate an accredited training provider: contact hours may come from PMI Authorized Training Partners, employers, training companies, distance learning or university courses, though self-directed study does not count. The routes are a secondary diploma with 36 months of project risk management experience in the last 5 years and 40 contact hours of risk education; a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent with 24 months of experience and 30 contact hours; or a degree from a GAC-accredited programme with 12 months of experience and 30 contact hours. Check PMI’s current eligibility rules; this practice bank does not provide qualifying contact hours.

Exam Domains & Weights
The PMI-RMP exam covers 5 domains. Focus your study time based on the weights below β higher-weighted domains have more exam questions.
| Domain | Weight | Practice Qs |
|---|---|---|
| Risk Strategy and Planning | 22% | 55 |
| Risk Identification | 23% | 58 |
| Risk Analysis | 23% | 58 |
| Risk Response | 13% | 32 |
| Monitor and Close Risks | 19% | 47 |
| Total | 100% | 250 |
π‘ Study tip: Risk Identification and Risk Analysis tie as the heaviest domains (23% each) β together they are nearly half the exam, so ground yourself there first: structured identification techniques, risk register construction, qualitative probability-and-impact assessment, and the quantitative work of expected monetary value, simulation and sensitivity analysis. Risk Strategy and Planning (22%) sits close behind and rewards scenario practice in risk appetite, thresholds and the risk management plan. Monitor and Close Risks (19%) tests reassessment, audits and closure discipline. Risk Response (13%) is the smallest domain but is heavily tested on matching strategies to both threats and opportunities, and on owner accountability.
