About ITIL 4 Foundation

Prepare for the service value system, the seven guiding principles, the four dimensions, the six service value chain activities, and the 15 ITIL practices.

This independent practice bank follows the official PeopleCert ITIL 4 Foundation candidate syllabus v4.2.0. Its 250 original questions cover the syllabus learning outcomes and assessment criteria. They are not real exam questions, and no vendor sample questions or text from the ITIL core publication is reproduced.

Check the version before studying. ITIL 4 has a different syllabus from ITIL Foundation (Version 5). ITIL 4 uses the Service Value System and a six-activity Service Value Chain, where Version 5 uses the ITIL Value System and an eight-activity ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle. If you are booked on the Version 5 exam, use the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) bank instead.

PeopleCert has announced that ITIL 4 modules retire on 31 December 2027. Check that date against your study and renewal plans before you book.

Who should take this exam?

ITIL 4 Foundation is the entry qualification for the ITIL 4 scheme. PeopleCert lists no prerequisites.

Typical study time is two to four weeks of part-time study.

Domains and practice coverage

Use the official exam weights, not the size of each practice pool, to plan your revision.

The practice allocation deliberately departs from a strictly proportional split, in both directions. A proportional split of 250 questions would leave the three smallest outcomes with only 13, 6 and 13 questions, which is too little material to revise from, so they are raised to a floor of 14, 12 and 14. Those extra questions are paid for by the largest outcome, which drops from 105 to 97 and therefore sits at 38.8% of this bank against its 42.5% exam weight. It is a study allocation, not a prediction of the question mix on your exam.

The seventh outcome still carries by far the most weight on the real exam at 42.5%, so start there. The ITIL service value system carries the least at 2.5%, but it is a single mark you can bank, and it underpins the vocabulary the rest of the syllabus uses.

Study mode lets you review the reasoning after answering; timed mode lets you practise with a clock.

PeopleCert certification path

ITIL 4 Foundation is the entry qualification for the ITIL 4 scheme and the prerequisite for the higher-level ITIL 4 modules.

If you are choosing between tracks, weigh two things. PeopleCert has announced that ITIL 4 modules retire on 31 December 2027, and ITIL Foundation (Version 5) is the current-generation entry qualification. Candidates who already hold ITIL 4 Foundation can reach Version 5 through the shorter Foundation Bridge module rather than sitting the full Version 5 course.

For the current syllabus, exam arrangements, learning options and renewal policy, use the official PeopleCert certification page.
