Microsoft 365 A7 + Student Use benefits
The question
Hi
First of all, I love your page. I use this and m365maps.com a lot but recently I got quite many questions on the Academic side and since Microsoft 365 A7 was released it isn’t much information that are updated like this type of links or documents that i added below so do you have any timelines of updating your page?
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-365-service-descriptions-technet-library https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-365-platform-service-description/office-365-platform-service-description
Also the Modern Work Education Comparison Chart that are available for download in PDF at the link below isn’t updated. And especially I don’t see any updated sites where a detailed information are uploaded for Student Use benefits. The product Terms just show a table but I think you, just as me, know that for example the M365 A5 Student use Benefits doesn’t include the same Defender Suite like for Faculty and this is what i need but for M365 A7

But with that question, you have a really good site :-)

The answer
Hi Stefan — thanks for the kind words and for sharing those references. I’ve updated the Education licensing guide and the Licensing Simplifier with the A7 Student Use Benefit details I could verify in Microsoft’s Product Terms.
For Microsoft 365 Education A7, Microsoft lists Office 365 A5 Student Use Benefit, Enterprise Mobility + Security A5 Student Use Benefit, Windows Education A3 Student Use Benefit, and Minecraft: Education Edition. The terms list EES and CSP availability and 40 student instances per qualifying paid Faculty/Staff, Education Qualified User, or Knowledge Worker licence.
On the Defender question: the public terms list those student-use products, but don’t itemize the Defender components or confirm that students receive the same Defender suite as faculty. I’ve made that limitation clear rather than guessing; the institution’s agreement or Microsoft licensing provider is the source for the exact student-use rights. Microsoft’s public Education pages also don’t list A3/A5/A7 dollar prices, so the guide points readers to request a current quote.
Thanks again — your feedback helped us replace outdated pricing and explain what Microsoft’s public terms do and don’t establish.
